Description: 

The Facility Caretaker is responsible for ensuring all areas of the Camp Kee-Mo-Kee facility are safe,
sanitary and prepared for visitors, campers, staff and volunteers. This role is key in providing a
welcoming, sanitary and healthy environment which meets the needs of all areas of the program.

Requirements: 

Skill Set Requirements and Qualifications:
● Skill set and requirements as outlined for all positions.
● Mature, responsible adult with a keen attention to detail.
● Must be able to follow instructions and protocols to exacting standards.
● Able to safely operate small machinery/equipment and hand tools.
● Able to take initiative in identifying and solving problems.
● Ability to work effectively independently, organize tasks and manage time effectively.
● Comfortable dealing with biological waste, dirt and chemicals.
● Adaptable to changes in environment, weather, duties.
● WHMIS and Working at Heights certification is an asset.
● Able to assist participants in an emergency (fire evacuation, illness, injury).
● Must supply their own safety shoes.
● Position Specific Physical/Environmental Requirements:

○ Comfortable with exposure to strong odours (both natural and chemical).
○ PPE required in many circumstances.
○ Work outdoors in all types of weather.
○ Able to lift 40 lbs; sit, crouch, kneel, bend, climb, reach, dig.

Job Duties:
● Minimum expectations and job duties as outlined for all positions.
● Responsible for cleanliness, upkeep and sanitation of the camp property during the operating
season.
● Must familiarize themselves with all camp policies, procedures and emergency plans.
● Must become a certified Small Water Systems Operator prior to start of contract and conduct
monitoring of the water treatment system each morning before camp activities commence.
● Responsible for daily scheduled cleaning and sanitation of: washrooms, showers, Dining Hall,
Craft Lodge, team workspaces, cabins, Health Hut and supplies/equipment.
● Groundskeeping and maintenance: gardening, litter control, raking, sweeping, small repairs,
cleaning, washing windows, graffiti removal and other duties as required.
● Responsible for pest control (ants, mice, wasps, etc.) in cabins, kitchen and throughout the
site.
● Tracks inventory of cleaning and sanitary supplies notifying the Executive Director of supplies
needed.
● Ensures all sanitation protocols are being followed, corrects any violations and reports to
directors.
● Follows the guidelines of the Property Committee to ensure facility standards are met.
● Assists with rental group hosting.
● Meets with the Executive Director regularly to develop a plan to address any issues.
● Responds to requests from the Summer Camp Director and Executive Director promptly.
● Participates in the leadership of May/June outdoor education programs if needed.
